The Version are a 4-piece rock/punk band from Northamptonshire. Since forming in 2002, the band have been experimenting with style and structure to evolve their dynamic, high-energy sound. Drawing upon influences as diverse as Blink 182, Dire Straits and BB King, their songs fuse upbeat riffs, straight-talking lyrics and freeform guitar solos with pure adrenalin to create music that "everyone can relate to".
Phil, lead vocals and guitar, and responsible for the band's lyrics, clarifies: "I've always felt like I had to write about real people - the kinda people I grew up with, and real situations. We're all human and one person's experience is as valid as anyone else's. So why should I be writing about rich kids in
California , for instance, instead of my mate Gary? When I hear shit dance music that someone just threw together at a computer desk and that doesn't relate to anything, I just think 'what's the fucking point?'"
The Version continue to grow as a band, but their inspiration stays the same.
