Casting announced for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Casting has been announced for the new Music & Lyrics and West Yorkshire Playhouse production of the much-loved Sherman Brothers musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang which flies into Birmingham Hippodrome from 7-18 September 2016.

Returning to Birmingham Hippodrome following his panto run as the title character in Aladdin, Lee Mead (Casualty, Legally Blonde, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) will play Caractacus Potts, with Michelle Collins (EastEnders, Coronation Street) starring as Baroness Bomburst, and Andy Hockley (The Phantom Of The Opera) as Grandpa Potts.The rest of the casting for the Birmingham leg of the UK tour will be announced soon.

Birmingham Hippodrome Chief Executive Fiona Allan said “We are delighted Lee Mead is returning to Birmingham Hippodrome in what will be one of the highlights of our 2016 season. The show will feature sensational sets, stunning special effects and, of course, the memorable score by the Sherman Brothers, which includes such classics as Truly ScrumptiousToot SweetsHushabye Mountain and the Oscar-nominated title song Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will run at Birmingham Hippodrome from Wednesday 7 September – Sunday 18 September 2016.  Performance times vary: 1pm, 2pm, 2.30pm, 5pm, 7.30pm.
