The Psychological Game Returns: What to Expect in Season 2
Channel 5 and BritBox have officially unveiled a first-look teaser for the returning season of their acclaimed original thriller series, The Game.
The promo, which features Robson Green and Jason Watkins, is available to watch on the Channel 5 Facebook page and Instagram.
The initial season introduced viewers to former detective Huw Miller (Jason Watkins), who settled into a quiet retirement alongside his wife Alice (Sunetra Sarker). However, Huw remained perpetually haunted by the unsolved case of the “Ripton Stalker”—a notorious killer who evaded justice after a failed arrest on Huw’s final day with the force.
When handsome and enigmatic new neighbor Patrick Harbottle (Robson Green) moved into the house previously owned by Huw’s late friend Frank, the retired detective’s life was turned upside down. Upon parting ways after a drink at the local pub, Patrick uttered the chilling three-word sign-off, “catch you later”—the exact phrase the Ripton Stalker used to taunt Huw in his historical letters.
What ensued was a high-stakes game of psychological chess between the neighbors as Huw risked everything to unearth the truth. But as Huw’s obsession mounted—leading him to snoop around Patrick’s home during a party and plead with former colleague DS Jenny Atkins for official post-mortem reports—viewers were left questioning whether Huw had truly found his man or pushed himself to the brink of paranoia.
Season 2 promises to pick up the pieces of that escalating rivalry, testing whether Huw’s suspicions hold weight or if his past trauma has completely clouded his judgment.
The Game 2 is the latest drama to come from the broadcaster, which recently announced a reboot of classic family drama Monarch of the Glen.
The Game season 2 is set to air this September.
