Apple TV+ has unveiled a first look at its upcoming crime drama "Dope Thief", an eight-episode series premiering globally on Friday, March 14, 2025.
The series is created and executive produced by Academy Award nominee Peter Craig (The Batman, Top Gun: Maverick) and executive produced by Academy Award nominee Ridley Scott (Gladiator, The Martian, Blade Runner), who also directs the pilot. Academy Award nominee Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta, Causeway, Bullet Train) stars in the series and serves as an executive producer.
Based on the novel by Dennis Tafoya, Dope Thief follows two long-time friends from Philadelphia who, while posing as DEA agents to pull off a small-time heist, accidentally expose a massive hidden narcotics network on the Eastern Seaboard. What starts as a petty crime quickly escalates into a dangerous battle for survival.
Joining Henry is an impressive ensemble cast, including Wagner Moura (Narcos, Civil War), Marin Ireland (The Umbrella Academy, Sneaky Pete), Kate Mulgrew (Star Trek: Prodigy, The Magnificent Meyersons), Nesta Cooper (See), Amir Arison (The Blacklist), and Golden Globe winner Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible franchise).
The series, a collaboration between Apple Studios and Scott Free Productions, is executive produced by Peter Craig, Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Richard Heus, Jordan Sheehan, Clayton Krueger, Jennifer Wiley-Moxley, and Brian Tyree Henry.
