It stars and is executively produced by Alexander Skarsgård and hailing from Chris and Paul Weitz, to make global debut May 16, 2025
Apple TV+ has released a first look at Murderbot, the highly anticipated comedic thriller from Academy Award nominees Chris and Paul Weitz (About a Boy, Mozart in the Jungle). Starring and executive produced by Emmy winner Alexander Skarsgård (Succession, Big Little Lies), the 10-episode sci-fi series premieres globally on Apple TV+ with its first two episodes on Friday, May 16, 2025, followed by weekly episodes every Friday through July 11.
Based on Martha Wells’ bestselling, Hugo and Nebula Award-winning book series, Murderbot is a sci-fi thriller with a comedic edge, centering on a self-hacking security construct struggling to suppress its distaste for human emotions while secretly protecting its vulnerable clients. Portrayed by Skarsgård, Murderbot must conceal its free will and navigate a perilous mission—all while longing to be left alone to binge futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.
The ensemble cast features Noma Dumezweni (Presumed Innocent), David Dastmalchian (Oppenheimer), Sabrina Wu (Joy Ride), Akshay Khanna (Critical Incident), Tattiawna Jones (The Handmaid’s Tale), and Tamara Podemski (Outer Range).
Produced by Paramount Television Studios, Murderbot is set to deliver a fresh and thrilling take on sci-fi storytelling.
