Oscar-winning actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto is facing severe new scrutiny following the release of an explosive BBC documentary detailing allegations of unlawful sexual conduct from multiple women.
In Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, ten women share accounts of their interactions with the 54-year-old actor between 2002 and 2016. Nine of the women involved are sharing their stories publicly for the first time.
The documentary highlights detailed testimonies from several women using pseudonyms:
Isabel alleges she was sexually assaulted by Leto in a Las Vegas motel bathroom in 2002 when she was 17 and he was in his 30s. She claims he grabbed her hand and used it to masturbate himself while in the shower.
“Alarms started going off in my head,” she said. “In that moment, I definitely realized I was not in a great situation.”
Alex claims that after a 2013 Thirty Seconds to Mars concert at London’s O2 Arena, she was invited to an after-party but ended up alone with Leto in a dark hotel room. When the then-19-year-old suggested sleeping on a chaise longue, Leto allegedly threatened her, telling her she would wake up “with a dick in her ass.” Alex subsequently left and texted a friend, who replied:
“He was threatening sexual assault, you should report him.”
Clara states that in 2006, at age 17, she had sex with the then-34-year-old actor at his California home—an act that constitutes statutory rape under state law. She noted that while they discussed the age of consent, Leto “kind of shrugged it off, like it wasn’t a huge concern for him.”
Etta alleges receiving inappropriate sexual phone calls from the actor in 2014 when she was 16, following a meeting at a Los Angeles modeling agency. She claims she was later asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement, which she declined to sign but shared with BBC producers.
Patterns and Past Accusations
Public scrutiny surrounding Leto intensified last year when LA DJ Allie Teilz posted a historic 2012 screenshot on Instagram stating:
“Youre [sic] not really in LA until Jared Leto tries to force himself on you backstage at an M83 show.. In a Kilt.. And a snow hat.”
Teilz’s post triggered responses from numerous other women, prompting a 2025 investigative report by Air Mail featuring accounts from nine women. At the time of that report, Leto’s representatives “expressly denied” the claims, labeling Teilz’s statement “demonstrably false.”
Leto did not respond to the BBC’s requests for comment regarding the new documentary, though Deadline has reached out to his representatives for an update.
The actor, who recently starred as Skeletor in Masters of the Universe, has consistently denied all past claims of sexual impropriety.
