Brandon Flowers confirmed for Radio 2 interview
Brandon Flowers will join Jo Whiley next Thursday 9 July, from 7.30pm on BBC Radio 2 to discuss his new solo album, THRASHER.
Brandon Flowers is stepping back into the solo spotlight and fans will be able to hear all about his next musical chapter when he joins Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2 next Thursday evening.
The Killers frontman will be a special guest on Jo Whiley’s Radio 2 show, where he’ll discuss his upcoming solo album, Thrasher, ahead of its release on 21 August. Listeners can tune in live on Radio 2 or catch the programme on BBC Sounds.
While Flowers is best known as the charismatic voice behind The Killers, his solo career has carved out its own distinctive identity. Since co-founding the Las Vegas rock band in 2001, he has helped shape one of the biggest alternative rock success stories of the past two decades, with seven studio albums and a catalogue packed with anthems that have become festival favourites around the world.
Away from the band, Flowers has embraced a more personal approach to songwriting. His 2010 solo debut, Flamingo, showcased a reflective side inspired by his Nevada roots, blending Americana influences with his trademark arena-sized melodies. Five years later, The Desired Effect saw him expand his sound with shimmering 1980s-inspired pop production and infectious hooks, earning praise for tracks that highlighted his flair for sophisticated, emotionally resonant songwriting.
Now, a decade after his last solo release, Flowers is preparing to return with Thrasher. The new record marks his third solo album and is expected to explore fresh musical territory while retaining the heartfelt lyricism and cinematic storytelling that have become hallmarks of his work, both with The Killers and as a solo artist.
During his conversation with Jo Whiley, Flowers is expected to reflect on the creative process behind Thrasher, the experience of balancing his solo career alongside one of rock’s biggest bands, and what inspired him to return to recording under his own name.
For fans eager to hear more about the new album straight from Flowers himself, the interview promises to offer an early insight into one of this summer’s most anticipated releases. The programme airs next Thursday night on Radio 2 and will also be available to stream live and on demand via BBC Sounds.
