The high-stakes legal world is getting a lot more crowded. Paramount+ and A24 have officially kicked off production on their upcoming legal drama Discretion, as Deadline reports its expanding its regular cast with two major additions: Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Stephan James and Colton Ryan.
The duo will star alongside previously announced heavyweights Nicole Kidman, Elle Fanning, and Josh Lucas in the thriller adapted from author Chandler Baker’s short story.
What Is Discretion About?
Created and written by Chandler Baker (Whisper Network) with Susannah Grant (Unbelievable) executive producing, Discretion delves into the dark side of corporate legal power.
The story follows Lenny (Fanning), an ambitious summer associate at an elite law firm in Dallas. Her career trajectory takes a dangerous turn when she uncovers a labyrinth of Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) designed to bury a severe truth. Realizing she signed the exact same restrictive contract, Lenny finds herself pitted directly against Sharon (Kidman), the firm’s formidable power-broker partner.
What begins as a promising mentor-protégé dynamic rapidly devolves into a tense game of cat-and-mouse over who controls the narrative—and who pays the price for keeping quiet.
