Chief Creative Officer Jared Bush took the stage alongside voice stars Ginnifer Goodwin (Judy Hopps) and Ke Huy Quan (Gary De’Snake) to confirm the news, coming off the massive global success of the franchise.
It is worth noting that fans in the United Kingdom and across parts of Europe will know the franchise under a different name. Due to regional licensing and trademark differences, the upcoming film will be titled Zootropolis 3 in the UK.
“The World is About to Go to the Birds”
While official plot details remain under wraps, Disney teased a major expansion to the franchise’s universe: avian species are finally arriving.
“We’ve actually only seen one city on one continent on one planet,” Bush told the cheering crowd inside the Honda Center. “There’s quite a lot more stories to tell.”
Disney further teased the news across social platforms with a cheeky tagline: “The world of Zootopia is about to go to the birds… Zootopia 3 is officially in the works!” This confirms fan speculation following a post-credits teaser in Zootopia 2 (Zootropolis 2 in the UK), where a single feather landed on Judy Hopps’ windowsill.
