Disney+ is officially bringing back one of the most legendary talent incubators in pop culture history. The streamer is set to tape a pilot episode for a modern reboot of The Mickey Mouse Club on Friday, September 11, at Studio City in California.
First created by Walt Disney, the seminal variety show debuted in 1955 and ran intermittently through 1996. The franchise briefly resurfaced in 2017 with the digital-first social media series Club Mickey Mouse. However, it is the late-’80s and ’90s All-New Mickey Mouse Club incarnation that holds legendary status, having famously launched the careers of global superstars including Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling, Christina Aguilera, and Keri Russell.
The upcoming pilot introduces a brand-new generation of young talent stepping into the iconic ears:
Hudson Stone, Casey Trotter, and Brooklynn Pitts (all starring in Disney’s upcoming Camp Rock 3)
Erianthe Akaata (Young Rock)
Scarlett London Diviney (The Lion King)
Michael Cash (Black Rabbit)
Yonas Kibreab (Elio)
Varonica Mitchell
Kauani
Scarlett Grace Petty
Carter Barnes
Behind the scenes, the reboot has assembled a heavy-hitting production team. The pilot is executive produced by Fulwell 73 co-founder Ben Winston—widely known for his work on The Late Late Show with James Corden and his upcoming role as Creative Director for the LA28 Olympic Games. He is joined by executive producer Ashley Edens (Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney), along with Emma Conway and Dave Piendak.
If picked up to series, the revival aims to retain the musical variety and self-expression of the original while tailoring the format for a modern streaming audience.
