More cast confirmed for Baby Reindeer creator's new drama 'Half Man'
Mitchell Robertson, Stuart Campbell, Neve McIntosh, Marianne McIvor and Charlie De Melo are among those joining Half Man
The BBC has revealed additional cast members for Half Man, the original six-episode drama series created by the multi-award-winning Richard Gadd (known for Baby Reindeer and Against The Law). Filming is currently underway in and around Glasgow. Half Man is produced by Mam Tor Productions (a Banijay UK company) for BBC and BBC Scotland in co-production with HBO.
Richard Gadd, creator, writer and executive producer, says: “Having scoured far and wide and met some of the most amazing talent this country has to offer, I’m so pleased to have landed on the cast that we have. I cannot wait for all our actors, young and old, to bring these characters to life. I have every faith everyone will fall in love with these performers as much as I did.”
Tally Garner & Morven Reid from Mam Tor Productions say: “We are utterly delighted to have such a brilliant cast join Richard and Jamie on Half Man and bring the funny, filthy and furious world of Niall and Ruben to life.”
As previously announced, Gadd and BAFTA-winning actor Jamie Bell (known for All of Us Strangers and Rocketman) star as estranged ‘brothers’ Ruben and Niall. When Ruben unexpectedly appears at Niall’s wedding, it sets off a violent chain of events that sends us back through their lives. Spanning nearly 40 years from the 1980s to the present day, Mitchell Robertson (from Curfew and Mayflies) and Stuart Campbell (from SAS Rogue Heroes and The Winter King) will portray the younger versions of Niall (Robertson) and Ruben (Campbell), respectively.
Half Man will explore the highs and lows of the brothers' relationship, from their teenage meeting to their eventual fallout as adults, featuring the good, bad, terrible, funny, angry, and challenging moments in between. The series will capture the raw energy of a changing city—and world—and attempt to address the complex question... What does it mean to be a man?
Neve McIntosh (from Tin Star and Chemistry of Death) joins the cast as Niall’s mother, Lori, while Marianne McIvor (from Screw and The Nest) will play Ruben’s mother, Maura. Additional cast members for Half Man include Charlie De Melo (from Rivals), Bilal Hasna (from The Agency), Julie Cullen (from Traces), Amy Manson (from The Nevers), Philippine Velge (from The Serpent Queen), Stuart McQuarrie (from The Rig), Piers Ewart (from The Primrose Railway Children), Scot Greenan (from T2 Trainspotting), and newcomers Charlotte Blackwood and Calum Manchip.
Half Man will air in 2026 on BBC iPlayer, BBC One and BBC Scotland in the UK, and on HBO in the US.
