When UKTV announced it was branching into original scripted drama, expectations were high—but Hit Point doesn’t just meet the mark; it completely shatters it. Premiering on U&Dave, this six-part British crime thriller delivers an addictive blend of high-stakes heist action, sharp humor, and electric lead chemistry.

A Heist With a Twisted Underbelly
The series opens with a sheer spectacle: three men clad in lion, fox, and jaguar (or is it panther?) masks hijack a Range Rover loaded with a staggering £10 million in cash. Detectives Bella (BAFTA nominee Saffron Hocking) and Leo (Nick Blood) are brought in to lead the investigation into the bizarre armed robbery.
The case quickly unravels into something far more dangerous. As the masked thieves scramble to launder the cash, the money’s true owner—psychopathic crime lord Pascal Dubois (William Abadie)—arrives in London on a ruthless tear. Trapped between a relentless police dragnet and a deadly syndicate, the robbers spiral into far bigger crimes than they bargained for.
However, the show’s dark, brilliant central mechanism rests on a massive internal conflict: Leo himself is the inside man. Driven by desperation to afford round-the-clock care for his paralyzed younger brother, Leo stole the drug fortune himself. Investigating his own heist alongside the woman he loves, he is forced to spin a web of lies while trying to hold onto his moral compass as the net tightens around him.
Unbeatable Lead Dynamics & Slick Production
The secret sauce of any standout police drama lies in the partnership, and Blood and Hocking ooze natural, effortless chemistry. Bella is streetwise, sarc-heavy, and fiercely sharp, hiding her feelings for Leo behind witty banter and blunt observations. Leo matches her step-for-step, creating an undercurrent of unresolved romantic tension that keeps every scene loaded with energy.
Penned by Misfits writer Howard Overman, Hit Point adopts a refreshing, American-style cop show pace—similar to the dynamic energy seen in C.I.A.—allowing it to inject genuine humor without losing its gritty edge. It completely avoids the dreary, plodding tropes that sometimes plague traditional network crime series.
Visually, the show is top-tier. Featuring sharp cinematography, crisp editing, and a soundtrack clearly inspired by the atmospheric punch of Top Boy, every episode feels cinematic and alive.

Our only grievance? We wish this hadn’t debuted during the peak of summer. This is quintessential, high-caliber British drama that deserves to be savored during crisp autumn evenings. That aside, we are already crossing our fingers for Season 2.
