ITV is shaking up its weekend television landscape in a major way. The broadcaster has confirmed a sweeping revamp of its peak Saturday and Sunday evening lineups set to launch this January, packing the schedule with high-stakes gameshows, star-studded reboots, and big-budget entertainment.
Leading the charge is television favourite Alison Hammond, who is pulling double duty for the network. Hammond is set to host a fresh revivals of legendary game show Name That Tune, featuring celebrity guests and a live band.
Katie Rawcliffe, director of entertainment, reality and daytime at ITV, said: “Name That Tune is such an iconic brand we are excited to be bringing this refreshed global format to the UK audience.”
Freddie Flintoff is also back, with new episodes of the beloved darts-themed staple Bullseye.
Applications to be on the next series are open until 31 August.
Joining the weekend roster is quiz mastermind Richard Osman, who will front a brand-new original primetime gameshow titled The Golden Elevators.
Richard Osman said: "I'm absolutely thrilled to be hosting The Golden Elevators. I signed up the moment they showed me the game. It's so simple, but it takes such skill to win — I've never seen a quiz show quite like it. I really can't wait for ITV viewers to see The Golden Elevators. Or, as I call it, The Golden Lifts."
Meanwhile, Ant and Dec are taking on the world of high-concept sports entertainment with Holy Moley!, an extreme golfing gameshow that promises big laughs and chaotic competition which broadcasts over four weeks.
Ant & Dec, Co-Founders, Mitre Studios and Holey Moley hosts say: Ant: “This show is absolutely perfect for us. It’s all about pure fun and entertainment for the whole family from start to finish. Anyone who knows us knows we are adore golf, but you don’t need to be a golf fanatic to enjoy it, there’s something for everyone!” Dec: “Holey Moley blends the game with huge entertaining moments that the whole family can sit down together, watch and enjoy. It’s epic, bold and full of laughs. We’re really excited to bring the show to the UK!”
Out With the Ice, In With the New
The scheduling overhaul marks a definitive shift in ITV’s early-year strategy. The new wave of entertainment formats will officially replace the rebooted You Bet! as well as long-standing winter flagship Dancing on Ice, ending the ice panel show’s traditional Sunday night reign.
Instead, ITV is betting big on high-energy, fast-paced gameshows to capture family viewing habits across both Saturday and Sunday nights.
However, fans of established hits won’t be left in the dark. The incoming arrivals will run alongside proven ratings monsters, including the return of mystery singing sensation The Masked Singer and late-night chat staple The Jonathan Ross Show, ensuring a seamless mix of fresh formats and fan favourites.
Sunday nights will also see the turn of big original dramas.
ITV’s revamped primetime weekend schedule kicks off this January on ITV1 and ITVX.
