Saturday Night Live UK has today confirmed the first hosts and musical guests for its highly anticipated debut season, with comedy icon Tina Fey set to front the launch episode on 21 March.
Fey, widely celebrated for her era-defining tenure as both head writer and cast member on the original US version of Saturday Night Live, will help introduce the British adaptation to audiences when it premieres live from London. Joining her on the opening night will be chart-topping indie band Wet Leg, the Isle of Wight duo whose infectious guitar anthems have earned critical acclaim and a rapidly growing international fanbase.
The following week, on 28 March, the show will welcome Jamie Dornan, the critically acclaimed Northern Irish actor known for his award-winning role in Belfast and a range of film and television performances. Dornan will be joined by Wolf Alice, the BRIT Award-winning band whose powerful blend of alternative rock and dreamy pop has made them one of the UK’s most respected modern groups.
The third announced episode, airing on 4 April, will feature Riz Ahmed, the Academy Award-winning British actor, writer and musician known for standout performances in productions including Bait and Hamlet. Providing the musical performance that evening will be British rock heavyweights Kasabian, whose explosive live shows and string of chart-topping albums have cemented their status as one of the country’s biggest bands.
Broadcast live from London every Saturday night at 10pm, Saturday Night Live UK will run for 75 minutes, with each episode hosted by a different guest from the worlds of entertainment, film, music and comedy. Alongside the rotating hosts, viewers will be introduced to the show’s inaugural cast: Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi and Paddy Young.
