Hollywood icon Jeff Goldblum is set to take the stage as host for the season two premiere of Saturday Night Live UK when the hit live sketch comedy series returns later this month.
broadcast live on September 12 on Sky and NOW, the premiere will feature the 73-year-old Jurassic Park and Wicked star alongside acclaimed Irish singer-songwriter CMAT as the evening’s featured musical guest.
Goldblum, renowned for his distinct charm and eccentric delivery across blockbuster franchises like Independence Day, steps into the hosting ring following a successful inaugural series for the British adaptation of the long-running NBC flagship.
Joining him for the launch episode is CMAT—real name Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson—who comes into the performance following a banner year. The double Brit Award nominee’s third studio record, Euro-Country, recently scooped Best Album at the Ivor Novello Awards in May and earned a nomination for the Mercury Prize.
The upcoming season builds on the momentum of SNL UK’s debut, which launched earlier this year with US comedy veteran Tina Fey as host. The inaugural run went on to feature a varied lineup of British and international talent, including Jamie Dornan, Riz Ahmed, Jack Whitehall, Nicola Coughlan, Aimee Lou Wood, Hannah Waddingham, and Ncuti Gatwa.
Following official confirmation of a second series renewal in May, producers confirmed that all 11 original cast members will return for the new run. The returning ensemble includes Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi, and Paddy Young.
Created under the oversight of executive producer Lorne Michaels, the British edition mirrors the format of the US original, combining topical satire, live musical acts, and a localized adaptation of the iconic Weekend Update desk. Michaels previously expressed immense pride in the UK production team, noting the show “keeps getting better every week.”
