The iconic Destiny’s Child singer replaces Leanne Rimes on the talent contest, joining original coaches Sir Tom Jones and Will.i.Am. McFly’s Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones are also back for the next series, however The Sun has already reported that this run will be their last.
Unusually, the next series was filmed way back in 2024. Aitch has been drafted in as new coach for next year’s series, which begins filming soon.
Emma Willis is absent from the new publicity photo which ITV has issued today. Whilst she’s already filmed the upcoming series, it presents a headache for the channel given she has already signed to host BBC One’s flagship talent series, Strictly Come Dancing. It means ITV have to decide whether to air The Voice on Saturday evenings and go head-to-head with Strictly, or move it to another night of the week.
The latter could well happen, following the US model where the programme airs on weeknights.
A source has also told The Sun that the next series includes a new feature, called the U-turn. They say “This is a bit of a revolution for The Voice, which has pretty much remained unchanged since it launched in the UK in 2012.
“The rewind element will see the judges given the power to perform a U-turn on a previous decision to pass over a performer”.
With Emma having signed up to front Strictly Come Dancing, it’s likely this season will be her last.
