Local programming ends on Capital, Heart and Smooth
Regional presenters say goodbye to listeners for the last time.
Local shows on Global radio stations Capital, Heart and Smooth have broadcast for the final time today.
Presenters up and down the country said goodbye to listeners for the final time, as production came to a close in studios across the UK. It comes as broadcasting rules changed, meaning the stations were no longer obliged to offer local drivetime shows.
It means from Monday 24th February, JK & Kelly Brook, Will Manning, and Jenni Falconer will host new networked shows across England, while dedicated drive shows will continue for Wales and Scotland.
JK & Kelly Brook will present Heart Drive across England, airing Monday to Friday, 4pm-7pm. Their show, already available nationally on DAB, will now extend to the FM network in England.
Will Manning will host Capital Drivetime across England, also airing Monday to Friday, 4pm-7pm. In addition to his drivetime show, Will continues to present The EE Official Big Top 40 every Sunday from 4pm-7pm.
Jenni Falconer will host a fully networked Smooth Breakfast across England & Wales, airing Monday to Friday, 6am-10am.
Elsewhere, Nada Allali joins the newly fully national Capital to host Sunday lates from 10pm – 1am on Capital, playing the biggest and best music, and Tom Watts from Capital Midlands takes over the overnight slots Thursday – Friday (1am – 4am) and Saturday – Sunday (1am – 5am).
At Heart, Vicky Pattison who previously hosted Drive across Heart North East, has a brand new show across the UK, bringing listeners all the positive weekend vibes every Saturday late afternoon from 4pm – 7pm. Vicky is a huge hit with the Heart audience and will keep listeners company as she plays the best tunes.
Elsewhere on the Heart schedule, Ben Atkinson moves to 10pm – 1am Monday to Thursday. Guy Howard keeps the feel good tunes coming as the new host of weekday overnights from 1am – 4am.
