Marvel Studios closed out an electric showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event with a massive announcement, officially introducing the star-studded ensemble bringing the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Studio President Kevin Feige and director Jake Schreier took the stage alongside Sadie Sink, who recently made her MCU debut as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Addressing the roaring arena, Sink shared her excitement about stepping into the iconic role:
“It is so wonderful to be here and to finally be able to talk about this character after months of speculation,” Sink told the crowd. “We’re here to talk about the X-Men. Should we meet some more of the cast?”
The Core Mutant Roster Revealed
Sink, Schreier, and Feige then introduced the newly minted heroes joining the franchise, bringing out the core cast to meet fans:
Kit Connor as Scott Summers (Cyclops)
Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier
Samara Weaving as Emma Frost
Inde Navarrette as Rogue
Maya Boyd as Storm
Adam Driver Steals the Show
Just when fans thought the presentation was over, actor Adam Driver hijacked the panel via a surprise video stream from across the Atlantic, dropping a major villain reveal with a cheeky nod to comic lore:
“When Kevin told me to show up for X-Men, I assumed he meant on set,” Driver said. “So instead of being there in California, I’m here at Pinewood [Studios] on this very lonely soundstage. Kevin and I have been talking for years about maybe joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And I think we finally found the perfect film at the perfect time. So I’m very excited to be playing Mag…. Nope. Even better. Nathaniel Milbury. So I’ll be right here, waiting for everybody to show up.”
Looking Ahead to 2028
Feige noted that while this marks the initial roster—with many of the stars meeting for the very first time backstage at the event—more casting announcements will follow soon.
Helmed by Schreier, who previously directed Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*, the untitled X-Men feature is set to land exclusively in theaters on May 5, 2028.
