If you’ve spent any time on Prime Video over the last few years, chances are you’ve fallen under the spell of Alan Ritchson.
The hulking, incredibly charismatic star has anchored Reacher as one of the single biggest television powerhouses on the planet. But while audiences are currently hooked on Jack Reacher’s latest bone-crunching exploits, Ritchson is already preparing to trade tactical boots for holiday cheer in a massive upcoming festive blockbuster.
Ritchson is set to co-lead the holiday family comedy The Man with the Bag, streaming exclusively on Prime Video on December 2.
Action Hero Meets Festive Heist
Directed by Adam Shankman (Hairspray, Disenchanted) and written by Allan Rice, the Amazon MGM Studios feature pairs Ritchson with cinematic legend Arnold Schwarzenegger for a wild, festive heist.
The story kicks off when Santa’s (Schwarzenegger) magic bag of gifts is stolen right before Christmas. Desperate to save the holiday, St. Nick is forced to dive into his notorious “naughty list” to recruit Vance (Ritchson), a smooth-talking ex-thief. Joined by Vance’s sharp-witted daughter, Santa, and a ragtag crew of misfits, Vance must plan and execute the most intricate heist of his life to retrieve the stolen bag and keep Christmas on track.
The star-studded cast also features Awkwafina, with Ritchson pulling double duty behind the camera as a producer alongside Lawrence Grey, Ben Everard, Reg Tigerman, and Dan Spilo.
Riding High on Reacher Mania
The festive team-up marks another huge win for Ritchson’s thriving partnership with Prime Video. His breakout turn as Lee Child’s wandering ex-military investigator, Jack Reacher, turned the series into a record-breaking streaming phenomenon.
Fans won’t have to wait to get their fix of Ritchson’s signature action. Season 4 of Reacher is currently airing weekly on Prime Video following its August launch. Based on Lee Child’s gripping 2009 novel Gone Tomorrow, the fourth season sees the lone-wolf detective plunging into high-stakes urban warfare across Philadelphia and New York City.
With Reacher already renewed for a fifth season—alongside an upcoming spin-off series centered on Maria Sten’s fan-favorite Frances Neagley—Ritchson’s reign over Prime Video isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Whether he’s handing out beatdowns in gritty alleys or helping Santa retrieve a stolen magic bag, Ritchson has solidified his place as streaming’s ultimate leading man.
