Sky Cinema has unveiled a fresh slate of major movie premieres, with award-winning dramas, animated adventures, horror sequels and star-studded comedies all heading to the platform in August.
Leading the line-up is Hamnet, from Academy Award-winning writer and director Chloé Zhao. Inspired by the novel of the same name, the film tells the emotional story of love and loss that inspired William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Jessie Buckley stars alongside Paul Mescal and Emily Watson in the highly anticipated historical drama.
Animation fans can also look forward to GOAT, an original action-comedy from Sony Pictures Animation, the studio behind the Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Set in a world inhabited entirely by animals, the film follows Will, a determined young goat who earns an unlikely opportunity to compete in the professional sport of roarball. Despite being underestimated by his larger teammates, Will sets out to prove that size is no barrier to success.
Horror returns with Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, which picks up one year after the terrifying events at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Josh Hutcherson reprises his role as Mike alongside Elizabeth Lail and Piper Rubio, as long-buried secrets surrounding the haunted animatronics threaten to unleash a new nightmare.
Music takes centre stage in Song Sung Blue, based on the remarkable true story of two struggling musicians who find unexpected success by forming a Neil Diamond tribute act. Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson star in the uplifting drama about second chances, love and following your dreams.
Classic cartoon favourites are back in The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, the first fully animated Looney Tunes feature for the big screen in years. Porky Pig and Daffy Duck become Earth’s last hope when an alien invasion threatens the planet, combining slapstick comedy with a sci-fi adventure.
Completing the line-up is Love Me, a unique romantic drama starring Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun. Set billions of years after humanity has disappeared, the story follows a buoy and a satellite who form a relationship online while discovering what it means to be alive, to love and to be human. Combining live action, animation, practical effects and game engine technology, the film promises a visually ambitious take on identity, technology and connection.
The latest additions reinforce Sky Cinema’s commitment to bringing audiences a broad mix of exclusive premieres, spanning prestige drama, family entertainment, blockbuster horror and original storytelling.
