What is The Five-Star Weekend about?
Jennifer Garner stars as Hollis Shaw, a hugely successful cookbook author, food influencer and lifestyle expert whose carefully curated world is turned upside down after the sudden death of her husband. As she struggles to cope with her grief, the cracks in her seemingly perfect life become impossible to ignore. Her marriage wasn’t as idyllic as it appeared, her relationship with her teenage daughter has become increasingly strained, and the constant need for approval from millions of followers has left her questioning who she really is.
Searching for a way to heal, Hollis invents the idea of a “Five-Star Weekend” — inviting one close friend from childhood, one from her twenties, one from her thirties and one from her current life to spend a long weekend together at her stunning Nantucket home. A surprise fifth guest completes the group.
What begins as a chance to reconnect quickly becomes something much more complicated. Old betrayals resurface, hidden relationships come to light and long-buried secrets threaten to destroy friendships that have lasted decades.
Like The White Lotus, much of the drama comes from putting a group of very different people together in an idyllic location and watching their carefully constructed lives begin to unravel.
