HBO’s epic television adaptation of the Harry Potter universe is officially expanding its ensemble for Season 2, tapping three rising stars to portray pivotal characters as the wizarding world grows darker and more complex.
BAFTA winner Lenny Rush (Doctor Who, Am I Unreasonable?) has joined the cast to voice the beloved house-elf Dobby. Joining him are newcomers Bonnie Hill as Gryffindor favorite Ginny Weasley and Emmy winner Billy Barratt (Invasive, Responsible Child) as the young Tom Riddle.
Key Castings for Season 2
Dobby (Lenny Rush): Rush takes on the motion-capture/voice role of Malfoy Manor’s long-suffering house-elf, whose well-meaning interventions promise to throw Harry’s world into chaos.
Ginny Weasley (Bonnie Hill): Hill steps into the shoes of Ron’s younger sister, who enters her first year at Hogwarts carrying a mysterious diary.
Tom Riddle (Billy Barratt): Barratt will portray the enigmatic teenage version of Lord Voldemort, appearing through memories embedded within Hogwarts’ hidden history.
Expanding a Star-Studded World
The trio joins a massive ensemble cast anchored by Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.
Season 1 previously established a powerhouse adult cast, featuring John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, and Kit Harington as Gilderoy Lockhart. The faculty and magical community are rounded out by Warwick Davis (Filius Flitwick), Sirine Saba (Pomona Sprout), Paul Whitehouse (Argus Filch), Johnny Flynn (Lucius Malfoy), and Bertie Carvel (Cornelius Fudge).
The younger Hogwarts contingent includes Rory Wilmot (Neville Longbottom), Lox Pratt (Draco Malfoy), Tristan Harland (Fred Weasley), and Gabriel Harland (George Weasley), alongside Bel Powley and Daniel Rigby as the insufferable Petunia and Vernon Dursley.

Based on J.K. Rowling’s world-renowned book series, the HBO original production is showrun and written by Francesca Gardiner (Succession, His Dark Materials). Mark Mylod (Succession, The Menu) serves as executive producer and directs multiple episodes.
The series is produced by HBO in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television. Executive producers include J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts for Brontë Film and TV, alongside David Heyman of Heyday Films.
The debut episode drops on Christmas Day.
