Here's The Version's guide to what to watch in the w/c 25 November 2024
The Agency (Paramount Plus)
The Agency stars Michael Fassbender as Martian, a covert CIA operative pulled from his undercover life and reassigned to London Station. Upon his return, he crosses paths with the love he once left behind, sparking a rekindled romance.
As emotions flare, Martian finds himself torn between his career, his true identity, and his mission. The stakes rise as their reunion thrusts them into a high-stakes game of international intrigue and espionage, where loyalty and love are put to the ultimate test.
The Madness (Netflix)
The Madness features Domingo as Muncie Daniels, a media pundit whose life takes a harrowing turn when he becomes entangled in a murder deep in the woods of the Poconos. Forced to fight for his innocence and survival, Muncie must confront the walls closing in around him. Along the way, he seeks to reconnect with his estranged family and rediscover the ideals he once held dear.
In a behind-the-scenes featurette, Domingo reveals that Muncie is inspired by real-life media figures known for their complex public personas. “He’s someone respected but also challenged, even by his own communities,” Domingo explains. “To some, he’s seen as not Black enough, while others view him as too Black. Muncie began as an activist but transitioned into a higher social echelon, becoming a kind of superstar. Over time, he’s grown distant from the very communities he once championed.”
Nutcrackers (Hulu in the US, Disney+ in the UK)
Nutcrackers is a brand new Christmas comedy starring Ben Stiller.
Director David Gordon Green channels the spirit of irreverent comedies from the 1970s and '80s in his latest holiday film. The story centres on Michael Maxwell (Ben Stiller), a successful yet disenchanted single man from the big city, who finds himself tasked with caring for four lively, recently orphaned children until they can be placed in foster care.
Known recently for his horror reboots like Halloween and The Exorcist: Believer, Green returns to the heartfelt charm of his indie roots with this warm, chaotic comedy. Linda Cardellini shines in a supporting role, while real-life siblings Homer, Ulysses, Atlas, and Arlo Janson make an impressive and entertaining collective acting debut.
Senna (Netflix)
Gabriel Leone takes the wheel as Ayrton Senna, the Brazilian driver who not only captured the attention of Formula 1’s elite but also became a global sensation. As highlighted in the clip above, Senna was a natural-born racer, ultimately securing three world championships in the perilous world of F1.
The series takes a dives deep into the story of Senna’s legendary racing career, offering a closer look at his life and the relationships that shaped him.
