Sky announces new Boyzone documentary
Sky confirms new Boyzone documentary One For The Road will go behind the scenes as the band prepares for emotional comeback
This summer, Boyzone are set to reunite for an eagerly anticipated and highly emotional return, with two major performances at the Emirates Stadium — a moment many thought would never come to pass.
Following the huge success of Sky Original Boyzone: No Matter What — the record-breaking three-part documentary that reignited worldwide admiration for one of pop’s most celebrated boybands — Sky has now announced a new one-off documentary, One for the Road. The film will give audiences exclusive behind-the-scenes access as the group prepares to come together one final time.
Set against years of shared history and the expectation of thousands of devoted fans, the band reunites while still carrying lingering tensions and unresolved issues from their 2019 farewell tour. Now, they are determined to close this chapter on their own terms and deliver the goodbye both they and their fans have long hoped for.
“The response to the series was incredible, breaking records for the Sky Docs team. I think audiences really engaged in a celebrity doc with such raw truth and honesty” says Exec Producer Dov Freedman. “We’re incredibly privileged to be working with the boys again and telling the story of their final chapter”
Hayley Reynolds, Head of Documentary Commissioning, Sky said: “Boyzone: No Matter What sparked an extraordinary outpouring of love for the band, and we’re thrilled to be working with Curious again to document this landmark reunion — something that may never have happened had the boys not approached telling their story with such honesty and candid testimony.”
Warm, humorous, candid and deeply personal, One For The Road explores friendship, forgiveness, ageing and legacy, while celebrating the lasting connection between Boyzone and the fans who have supported them throughout every stage of their journey.
