Sky TV set to announce second series of Saturday Night Live UK
Sky are set to recommission SNL UK following massive ratings.
Saturday Night Live UK is expected to be recommissioned for a second series this week, just days after its debut episode aired.
The move follows impressive launch ratings, with more than 250,000 viewers tuning in live — outperforming Channel 4. Those numbers are likely to climb significantly once on-demand viewing figures from Sky TV and NOW are included. In addition, clips from the show are expected to generate millions of further views across YouTube and social media platforms.
Over the weekend, Donald Trump reshared a sketch that poked fun at Sir Keir Starmer.
A source told The Version: “These figures are hugely valuable for Sky. The real strength of SNL isn’t just in its live audience, but in how widely its content is watched and shared online. The exposure it delivers for Sky TV and NOW is enormous, and the ongoing conversation around the show only amplifies that impact.”
Even before the premiere aired, Sky had already commissioned two additional episodes, extending the first series to eight 75-minute instalments.
The show will broadcast live from London at 10pm this Saturday (21 March), with SNL veteran Tina Fey hosting and chart-topping band Wet Leg as the musical guest. Jamie Dornan and Riz Ahmed are set to host the following episodes on 28 March and 4 April respectively, joined by musical guests Wolf Alice and Kasabian.
Airing live from London at 10pm every Saturday, each 75-minute episode will feature a different host alongside the inaugural SNL UK cast: Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi and Paddy Young.
