SNL UK Announces Nicola Coughlan, Aimee Lou Wood and New Musical Guests for Upcoming Episodes
Saturday Night Live UK has unveiled its next round of hosts and musical guests, continuing to build momentum for its debut season with a mix of high-profile talent and emerging voices.
On 25 April, award-winning actor Nicola Coughlan, known for her roles in Bridgerton, Derry Girls and Big Mood, will host the live sketch show. She will be joined by Foo Fighters, who make their SNL UK debut despite being long-time veterans of the original American series.
The following week, on 2 May, BAFTA-winning actor Aimee Lou Wood, recently seen in The White Lotus and Film Club, will take on hosting duties. The episode will feature a performance from rising British artist MEEK, marking a significant platform for the breakthrough act.
Broadcast live from London at 10pm each Saturday, the 75-minute programme follows the fast-paced format that has defined the Saturday Night Live brand for decades. Each episode is written, rehearsed and performed within a single week, maintaining the franchise’s signature high-pressure creative process.
The inaugural season has already featured a strong lineup of hosts including Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, Riz Ahmed and Jack Whitehall. Musical performances have come from Wet Leg, Wolf Alice, Kasabian and Jorja Smith.
The show’s core cast introduces a new generation of British comedic talent, with performers such as Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi and Paddy Young.
Each episode includes an opening monologue, a series of topical sketches, live musical performances and a UK adaptation of the iconic satirical news segment, “Weekend Update.”
Produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio’s UK team and Broadway Video for Sky and NOW, the series is executive produced by Lorne Michaels. James Longman serves as lead producer, with Liz Clare directing and Daran Jonno Johnson as head writer.
With its blend of established stars, live production energy and distinctly British comedic voice, SNL UK marks a significant new chapter for the globally recognised format as it adapts to a new audience.
