Tamzin Outhwaite confirmed for Christmas Strictly!
EastEnders icon is taking to the dancefloor!
The festive magic of Strictly Come Dancing returns as the ballroom transforms into a sparkling winter wonderland for the highly anticipated Christmas Special. The fifth celebrity contestant has been unveiled: Tamzin Outhwaite, the multi-award-winning actress, will partner with Strictly professional Nikita Kuzmin for the dazzling holiday competition.
The announcement was made on Strictly: It Takes Two, airing on BBC Two and iPlayer, adding more excitement to the countdown to Christmas. This year’s special promises festive cheer, shimmering baubles, and six celebrities vying for the coveted title of Strictly Christmas Champion 2024.
Tamzin Outhwaite is a celebrated actress known for her leading roles across stage and screen. She captured audiences as DCI Sasha Miller in New Tricks, starred in Hotel Babylon and Murder Is Easy, and became a household name as Mel Owen in EastEnders. On the big screen, she appeared in Out of Control and joined an ensemble cast in Mike Newell’s Great Expectations alongside Ralph Fiennes, Helena Bonham Carter, and Robbie Coltrane.
In theatre, Tamzin has wowed audiences in productions such as Abigail’s Party at Theatre Royal Stratford East and the West End revival of Noises Off.
Tamzin shared her excitement about stepping onto the Strictly stage:
“I’m so excited to swap the stage for the Strictly Ballroom this Christmas. I’m used to performing in front of a live audience, but this is a whole new experience. I can’t wait to immerse myself in all things glitter and sequins. Let’s hope the judges show Nikita and I some extra festive cheer this Christmas!”
The Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special, produced by BBC Studios, will see six couples performing festive-themed routines to dazzle the judges: Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke, and Head Judge Shirley Ballas. The studio audience will cast their votes to determine which duo will lift the iconic Christmas trophy.
The sixth and final celebrity contestant will be revealed on Thursday, December 21, on Strictly: It Takes Two.
