The Great British Bake Off 2026 series will launch on Tuesday, 22 September at 8pm.
We can exclusively reveal the premiere date of the brand new series, the first to feature Nigella Lawson as a judge, is just a couple of weeks away!
The 90 minute episode will be followed by the first episode in the new season of gameshow Tempting Fortune, after which Bake Off’s new spin-off show Second Helpings will air between 10.35pm and 23.20pm.
Hosted by Bake Off superfan Jon Richardson, Second Helpings will see Jon joined by Judi Love each week as they serve up their take on the episode’s biggest talking points and best bakes.
Judi Love said: “I’ve been lucky enough to be in the tent a few times and work alongside Jon, both were pure joy! Joining the show to talk all things baking and celebrate showstopping bakes, including some unique spins sounds like absolute blast. I can’t wait to get started and of course eat a few cakes or whatever treats they may have.”
Jon Richardson said: “Bake Off is an institution. Jo Brand is a comedy God. Together with Tom Allen, they have made a spin off show that is warm, witty and unique. I pity the poor sap they lure into stepping into those shoes.”
Nigella joins the show following the departure of Prue Leith who became one of the most loved figures on British TV screens over nine series.
Nigella Lawson said, “I’m uncharacteristically rather lost for words right now! Of course it’s daunting to be following in the footsteps of Prue Leith and Mary Berry before her, great dames both, but I’m also bubbling with excitement. The Great British Bake Off is more than a television programme, it’s a National Treasure – and it’s a huge honour to be entrusted with it. I’m just thrilled to be joining the team and all the new bakers to come. I wish the marvellous Prue all the best, and am giddily grateful for the opportunity!”
Paul Hollywood, Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding all return.
