Ahead of its global streaming debut on Friday, August 28, the film will hold its red-carpet premiere screening on Monday, August 24 in New York City.
What Is ‘The Whisper Man’ About?
If you leave a door half open, soon you’ll hear the whispers spoken. If your window’s left unlatched, you’ll hear him tapping at the glass. If you’re lonely, sad, and blue, the Whisper Man will come for you.
The story centers on a widowed crime writer whose eight-year-old son is suddenly abducted.Desperate for answers, he reaches out to his estranged father—a retired former police detective who made his career decades earlier by arresting a notorious serial killer dubbed “The Whisper Man”.
When the eerie playground rhyme resurfaces, a terrifying question emerges: is a copycat on the loose, or did the original killer never truly act alone?
A newly released teaser poster captures one of the book’s most unsettling moments, showing the sinister figure reaching through a home’s mail slot to entice a young child (played by Acston Luca Porto).
Speaking to Netflix Tudum, author Alex North shared his excitement about seeing that pivotal scene adapted for the screen:
“It’s an inherently frightening idea, the idea that anybody could be reaching out to your child or talking secretly to them,” North told Netflix Tudum. “It works really, really well in the film. I was pleased it was there.”
